Searsport boy, 4, injured in ATV accident dies

BANGOR, Maine — A 4-year old boy who was seriously injured in an ATV accident on Monday has died of his injuries, according to the Maine Warden Service.

Tanner Morse of Searsport died at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor late Tuesday night, according to a news release from Cpl. John MacDonald.

Morse was injured when he was riding his ATV in the town of Shin Pond on Monday.

The boy was operating an 8CC Yamaha four-wheeler on property owned by his grandfather, Craig Morse, according to the release.

It appears Tanner Morse had attempted to drive up an incline and the machine rolled backwards and landed on top of him, the release stated. Tanner’s father, Cody, found his son unconscious about 200 feet from the home at 6 p.m. Monday. Tanner had been transported to Houlton Regional Hospital before LifeFlight flew him to EMMC.

The incident remains under investigation.
