BANGOR and WINDHAM – H. Janet (Irish) Lawrence, 80, of Bangor, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. Janet was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Windham, the daughter of John and Marion (Hawkes) Irish.

She graduated from Windham High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Everett H. Lawrence, New Year’s Eve in 1951. They shared 50 years together before his passing in 2002. Janet will always be remembered for her great love of children and her kind and gentle ways with everyone she met throughout her life. While she enjoyed various jobs throughout the years, the one that gave her the greatest joy was caring for more than 30 newborn babies while they awaited adoption. She gladly spent many hours and sleepless nights rocking and humming to somebody else’s child as they waited for their new family.

Janet felt such great pride and love for her growing family. She will be deeply missed by them all including her son, John Lawrence, his wife, Beckie, and their sons, Eric, and Justin and his wife, Rachel; her son, Paul Lawrence, his wife, Sandy, and their son, Matthew; her daughter, Kathi (Lawrence) Ward, her husband, Steve and their children, Luke and Felicia Ward, Jake and Summer Ward, and Jodi and Joseph Brasslett; and her son, Mark Lawrence, his wife, Kathy, and their children, Jessica and Nick Caron, Audrey and Marion. She was always ready with a smile and a hug for her little great-grandchildren, Willow and Stephen Ward, Violet and Liam Ward, and Jordan, Joey and McKenna Brasslett. They were all very blessed to have had many special times with their loving G.G. Janet’s beautiful smile and laughter will also be greatly missed by her sister, Thelma Sirios; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit noon until the hour of the service. Burial will be afterward at Chase Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Cliff Advent Christian Church, 96 Highland Cliff Road, Windham, ME 04062.
