BREWER, Maine — An early-morning call from a passing motorist about a car that had run off Interstate 395 into a ditch led to the arrest of a man from Austin, Texas for drunk driving.

Anthoneil Williams, 31, was arrested and charged for OUI after Brewer police officers Liz Kelley and Mike Wilson responded to the report and found Williams sitting in the driver’s seat at 3:06 a.m. Thursday.

“The driver admitted to drinking that night and they then performed a field sobriety test,” said Brewer police Lt. Chris Martin. “His intoxilyzer results recorded his blood alcohol level at more than twice the legal limit.”

Williams was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained in custody Thursday night. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday morning.
