Bath woman charged with OUI after allegedly hitting pole

By Times Record

BATH, Maine — A Bath woman was charged with operating under the influence after an officer witnessed her run into a steel pole in a parking lot and leave without checking the damage to her vehicle.

Lt. Stan Cielinski said 34-year-old Rachelle S. Cromwell was arrested by an officer who witnessed her vehicle hit the pole in the parking lot next to Riverside Sports Pub. She left without getting out to assess the damage.

The officer followed her and Cromwell allegedly “shot into a driveway” and turned the vehicle lights off on Wesley Street. When the officer spoke to her, “she was slurring words and smelled of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested,” Cielinski said. Cromwell was issued an Intoxilyzer test.

Cielinski said the yellow steel pole was listing at an 80-degree angle after it was hit.

Cromwell’s bail was set at $500 cash unsecured and she was able to post bail.
