BANGOR, Maine — A group of motorcyclists is planning to ride from Bangor to Millinocket on Tuesday in support of two former Marine captains who are hiking the Appalachian Trail to raise money to help severely wounded war veterans.

Rep. Douglas Damon, R-Bangor, a retired Air Force colonel, said he anticipates that 50 or more motorcycles will take part in the ride, which is scheduled to leave the Leadbetter’s store on outer Hammond Street, Route 2, at 3:30 p.m. and head to the American Legion Post 80 hall in Millinocket, where a spaghetti dinner will be held at 6 p.m.

Former Marine Capts. Mark Silvers and Sean Gobin are nearing the end of their hike of the 2,180-mile Appalachian Trail. Their nonprofit organization, Warrior Hike, is dedicated to supplementing the cost of adaptive vehicles for severely wounded veterans.
