DURHAM, N.C. – Linda Diane Poitras Langley, 72, passed away July 8, 2012, at her home. She was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Limestone, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Butler) Poitras of Limestone.
Linda graduated from Limestone High School in 1957. Having a strong belief in lifelong education, Linda completed master’s degrees in exercise physiology and nutrition. Her most recent employment was with Duke University School of Nursing and Coda Research, Inc., where she worked as a research assistant. She had also been employed as an instructor at Durham Technical Community College and CA Dillon School, and substitute taught at several local high schools. Linda enjoyed knitting and donated her own creations of mittens and hats to underprivileged children. She also was a "blanketeer" for Project Linus knitting afghans for seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise needy children.
She is survived by three children, Cheryl Robertson of Orono, Cynthia Robertson of Hillsborough, N.C., and David Robertson and his wife, Heather, of Alexandria, Va. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Bailey, Chelsea, Brittany, Lauren, John, Denis, Julia and Alexander; as well as one great-grandchild, Logan.
A graveside remembrance and burial service will be held for special friends and family 1 p.m. Aug. 19 with a celebration of life to be held immediately after at the home of Patsy and Paul Poitras, 22 Church St., Limestone.
