LINCOLN – Carolyn Elizabeth Whitney Clifford, 79, went home to be with her Lord, July 22, 2012, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Jan. 15, 1933, in Howland, daughter of Fernando and Maude Elizabeth (Bastian) Dunn.

Carolyn devoted her life to being a good wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed playing games, going to bingo and doing crafts.

She is survived by four children, Diane Jean Wotton and Larry, Terry Alden Whitney and Gracie, Mona Elizabeth Jipson and Kevin, all of Lincoln, and Dawn Janine L’Italien and Ron of New Hampshire; 16 grandchildren, Jason House and Trisha of Mapleton, Jamey House, Dale Wotton and Denise, Drew Wotton and Emily, all of Lincoln, Sharon Wilkins and Charles of Massachusetts, Heather Whitney of Lincoln, Shannon Whitney of Hermon, Brandon Whitney of Lincoln, Jared Currier of Brooklyn, N.Y., Charlee Currier of Lincoln, Andrew Sinclair of Hermon, Ariana Sinclair of Pennsylvania, Alexander Sinclair of Bangor, as well as Ed, Joe and Katarina; 11 great-grandchildren, Indigo, Taylor, Deanna, Kaylee, Griffin, Morgan, Meredith, Avery, Ashley, Levi and Kendyll; in-laws, Evelyn Dunn, Harold Whitney, Tina Whitney, Maurice and Hazel Chase; and a special friend, Tammy Burrell of North Yarmouth. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Alden Whitney; second husband, Melvin Clifford; siblings, George, Donald, Katie, Robert and Mona; and beloved dogs, Sam and Patty.

Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where a funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday with the Rev. William Chesley officiating.
