BAR HARBOR — District 5 champ Dirigo improved to 2-0 in the state Little League all-star baseball tourney for ages 11-12 with a 4-3 seven-inning victory over D1 champ Coastal Saturday.
D6 champ Scarborough edged D2 champ Waldo County 4-2 as three pitchers combined on a no-hitter in the second game Saturday and fourth in the double-elimination tourney.
The tourney continues Sunday with D3 champ Hermon playing Waldo at 9 a.m., followed by D4 champ East Biddeford vs. Coastal at noon and Dirigo against Scarborough at 2:30 p.m.
In Saturday’s first game, Jake Hendsbee raced home with the winning run in the seventh for Dirigo as he tripled and scored on the overthrow to third.
Dirigo tied the game at 2-2 with two runs in the fifth when Nate Howard doubled and scored on an error. Noah Bonsant singled in the inning’s second run. Dakota Stoops hit an infield single in the sixth and beat the tag at the plate to score on John Henry’s RBI single.
Trent Williamson cranked two home runs to lead Coastal with his second homer, a solo blast, knotting the game at 3-3 to send it into extra innings. Williamson hit a two-run homer in the second after Stefan Simmons had singled.
Derek Dyer chipped in with a double for Dirigo and Tyler Dostie singled twice to back winning pitcher Noah Bonsant.
Taylor Schildroth slammed a ground-rule double for 0-1 Coastal and Stefan Simmons contributed two singles.
In the second game, Jared Brooks, Zoltan Panji and Connor Kelly combined on the no-hitter to lead Scarborough as Brooks pitched the first three innings, Panji took the next two and Kelly closed in the sixth.
Morgan Pratt and Kelly led off the game with singles and eventually scored on walks. Ogden Timpson singled and moved around to score the winning run in the fourth inning. In the fifth, Zoltan Panji’s grounder drove in Brooks who had singled.
For 1-1 Waldo, left fielder Ben Powell made back-to-back shoestring catches in the second inning to spark the defense. Pitchers Colby Furrow and Joe Danna held Scarborough to four singles.

At Carmel, Nick Lakeman recorded five hits and six RBIs with a home run, triple and three singles to power Holbrook past Old Town and to the District 3 title.
Holbrook advanced to the state tourney in Waldoboro July 28-Aug. 1.
Colby Miller chipped in with two doubles, a single and three RBIs for the winners and Jack Miller added a double, single and two RBIs. Jared Hoxie contributed two singles.
Holbrook led 8-1 entering the top of the fifth after four strong innings from starting pitcher Matt Cunningham, who struck out seven.
Holbrook added five more runs in the fifth on Lakeman’s three-run home run and Hunter Salley’s RBI double.
Old Town answered back with 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth highlighted by RBI singles by Cree Neptune Bear and Nick Avery, but Holbrook responded in the sixth with nine more runs, sparked by a Lakeman three-run triple a Jacob Miller two-run double.
Nick Avery sparked Old Town with a double, single and two RBIs and Neptune Bear added three singles and an RBI.
