Calais Legion baseball team snaps 16-game losing streak, sweeps Northern Lumber

CALAIS — The Calais Suns picked up their first wins of the American Legion baseball season and knocked the Northern Lumber out of the playoff hunt with a doubleheader sweep 6-5, 7-1 Wednesday.

Scott Boies lined a two-run single to center to seventh to cap a five-run rally and give the Suns the victory in the first game.

Adam Geel chipped in with two singles and two RBIs for 2-16 Calais and Jesse Clark added a triple and single. Ryan Lincoln, P.J. Descoteaux and Tyler Morris each singled to back winning pitcher Jeremy Beers.

Derrick Tanous and Kyler Peters each recorded a single and two RBIs for the 4-14 Lumber. Parker Walker added two singles and Dustin Sawtelle had one.

In the second game, Geel scattered six hits while striking out five and walking two to propel the Suns by the Lumber.

Jesse Clark paced the Suns with a solo homer, single and two RBIs. Ryan Lincoln and Nick Barnes each doubled, with Lincoln driving in two runs, while Geel, Tyler Morrison and Beers each singled.

Jordan Morrow singled twice and drove in a run for the Lumber. Logan McLaughlin, Sawtelle, A.J. MacEachern and Griffin Libby each added a single.
