SACO, Maine — A resident of a local treatment facility was arrested Monday after an altercation with another resident, police said.

Tyra Kennison, 30, of Saco had allegedly been having issues with the other resident at the Sweetser Family Focus center for several days, according to Saco Deputy Chief Jeff Holland.

Monday morning, the issue escalated from verbal to physical, according to Holland. Punches were thrown, and Kennison wound up being bitten by the victim during the altercation.

Staff at the facility contacted police, who determined that Kennison was the aggressor. Kennison refused to cooperate with officers, according to Holland.

Kennison was arrested and charged with criminal threatening, assault and refusing to submit to arrest. She continued to verbally threaten the victim and staff while police led her to a squad car.

Kennison was booked into the Saco police station and later released on bail.
