Bangor West All-Stars advance to District 3 championship round

BANGOR — Bangor West used an eight-run third inning to defeat Bangor East 18-11 in the District 3 Little League All-Star baseball tourney for ages 11-12 Monday and advance to the championship round against Hermon.

Bangor West will host unbeaten Hermon at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the double-elimination tourney and will try to force an if-necessary game.

Bangor West scored four runs in the first inning and Bangor East answered with seven runs in its half of the inning.

Dominick Rossignol sparked Bangor West with a home run and two singles for six RBIs. Winning pitcher Gary Farnham chipped in with a home run, double and four RBIs.

Zach Ireland paced Bangor East with a home run and single while Kyle McCue and Zach Murray each chipped in with two hits.

Legion baseball

Brewer 17, Lumber 3

At Millinocket, Jordan Carter doubled twice and drove in three runs to back up winning pitcher Dennis O’Neil.

The game ended after five innings due to darkness.

Kyle McLain chipped in with a double and two RBIs for 8-8 Brewer and Jeremy Bissell recorded a single, sacrifice fly and two RBIs.

Jordan Morrow doubled and singled for the 4-12 Lumber and Logan McLaughlin added a single and three RBIs.

Hampden 16, Calais 10

At Hampden, Matt Palmer cranked two home runs, singled, tripled and finished with six RBIs to power Hampden past Calais.

Will Perkins chipped in with a home run, two singles and two RBIs for 9-8 Hampden. Justin Kasprzak added a single and solo home run while Patrick Later notched two singles and drove in a run.

Jesse Clark tripled, singled and drove in two runs for 0-16 Calais. Adam Geel contributed with three singles and Nick Barnes added two while each player drove in a run.

Brewer 13, Hampden 11

At Brewer Sunday night, Tyler French recorded two singles, a double and two RBIs and picked up the win in relief for the Falcons.

French threw three innings and gave up a run to notch his first win of the season. Tony Bissell chipped in with two doubles and an RBI. Billy Deredin and Jordan Carter each added a double and single.

Spencer Hartsgrove singled twice for Hampden and drove in a run. Will Perkins added a double and Andrew Giosia had a two-run single.
