Phippsburg teenager seriously injured after jumping 50 feet off Bath bridge

BATH, Maine — A Phippsburg teenager jumped from the Sagadahoc Bridge on Monday, landing near Commercial Street in Bath and suffering serious injuries.

Bath police and rescue rushed to Commercial Street near the pumping station at approximately 8 a.m. Monday in response to reports that a male teen had jumped from the bridge, Bath Police Sgt. Robert Savary confirmed.

Savary would not disclose in which local town the teen lives.

Police contacted his mother and took her to Maine Medical Center, where her son was transported with serious injuries.

Savary said the teen plunged from a section of the bridge that is approximately 50 feet above the ground.

His condition was not immediately available.
