MILLINOCKET – Dennis L. Michaud, 65, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 12, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1946, in Island Falls, the son of Albert and Eva (Savage) Michaud.
Dennis was a graduate of Island Falls High School, class of 1964, and Fort Kent State Teacher’s College, class of 1970. Dennis retired from East Millinocket School Department in 2006 after 35 years of teaching. Dennis loved the outdoors – from fiddleheading, berry picking, fishing, hunting and cutting his firewood; he enjoyed it all. He loved his garden and every spring he started hundreds of tomato plants that he would give to friends and family.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy (Bartlett) Michaud; sons, Chad Michaud and his wife, Sara, and Andrew Michaud and his wife, Michelle; and daughter, Kim Armell and her husband, Chad. Everyday he remarked on his grandchildren, saying "all I have to do is think about those sweet grandkids and they make me smile." "Bumpa" will be sadly missed by his four grandchildren, Ryan, Kate, and Benjamin Michaud and Henry Armell. He was also looking forward to the birth of two more grandchildren. Dennis is additionally survived by a sister, Annette Stevens and her husband, Maitland; a brother, Lewis Michaud; two sisters-in-law, Janelle Gray and her husband, Scott, and Christy Gagnon and her husband, Ronnie; an aunt, Elinor Savage; a special cousin, Nancy Pullen and her husband, Mike; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by his very dear friends, Steve and Liz Marshall and Doug and Judy Knowlton, who will miss their weekly card games. Doug and Dennis enjoyed many Saturdays in the fall, bird hunting. Dennis will also be missed by Richard McKinnon, who will fondly remember his woodcutting, berry picking and fishing buddy.
