Nash helps Hermon LL All-Stars edge Brewer


HERMON — Pitcher Zach Nash recorded the seven-inning win and aided his own cause with a single and double as Hermon beat Brewer 3-2 in a District 3 Little League all-star baseball game in the ages 11-12 tourney Monday.

Hermon improved to 3-0.

Ryan Hoogterp chipped in with three singles and Jordan LaFrance notched two singles.

Brandon Morneault and Jake Corey each doubled for 2-1 Brewer while Kobe Rogerson and Robbin Harris added a single apiece.

Bucksport 5, Coastal 1

At Blue Hill, Luke Wardwell threw five shutout innings and Jacob Ames finished with a scoreless sixth to help Bucksport beat Coastal 5-1 in a District 1 Little League All-Star baseball game in the ages 10-11 tourney.

Ames also contributed with a double, single and RBI. Luke Wardwell and Devin Mahue each chipped in with an RBI single.

Ben Parker singled twice and drove in a run for Coastal. Caden Mattson and Joe Norwood each added a single.

Coastal 12, Acadians 0

At Bar Harbor, Connor Morey pitched a one-hit, five-inning shutout to lead Coastal by the Acadians in the District 1 Senior League championship game Saturday.

Coastal, which represents the Blue Hill area, advanced to the state tourney which begins July 27 at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.

Morey aided his own cause with a two-run double. Anthony Bianco paced the offense with a 4-for-4 effort that included three singles and an RBI double. Mariner Cheney chipped in with three singles and drove in two runs.

Jon Phelps hit a leadoff single in the first inning for the Acadians.

Coastal won the first game of the best-of-three series 8-3 on July 3, but the Acadians came back to win 11-6 on July 6 to force Saturday’s final game.

D3 baseball, 9-10

Old Town 6, Holbrook 2

At Hampden, Old Town beat Holbrook to advance to Tuesday’s 5:30 p.m. game against Hermon at the VFW fields in Hampden.

Ethan Hayes led Old Town with a double, and Michael Brown, Jayden Dana and Dylan Street each added hits. Michael Brown was also the winning pitcher.

For Holbrook, Andrew Kiley struck out eight. He also contributed with a double, driving in a run.

D1 baseball, 9-10

Acadians 17, Machias 8

At Bar Harbor, Nick Corson recorded a two-run triple, three singles and finished with three RBIs to help the Acadians beat Machias and capture the District 1 title.

The Acadians’ only loss in double-elimination tourney was to Machias 19-18. The Acadians finished with a 5-1 record and advanced to the state tourney in Scarborough while Machias finished at 2-2.

Winning pitcher Kyle Nicholson struck out 10 in his 3 1/3 innings.

Jack Decorte chipped in with an RBI triple, a single and sacrifice fly for the Acadians. Nick Duley and Kyle Nicholson each added two singles, with Duley driving in a run. Brett Duley contributed a triple.

Lukas McDonald, Jordan Lobley and Jeff Graham each recorded two singles and drove in a run for Machias. Zain Fitzsimmons chipped in with a ground-rule double.

Coaches are required to list information for both teams, with first and last names of players. Info should include key highlights and stats for leading hitters and pitchers.

Linescores may also be included.
