VASSALBORO – Jeffrey L. Black, 57, passed July 4, 2012, at home. He was born July 6, 1954, in Bangor.

Jeff graduated from Orono High School and Bangor Community College. Prior to his retirement in 2011, he was employed by New England Telephone Co., which became Verizon, and later, Fairpoint, for a total of 33 years. Jeff was an avid sportsman, both hunting and fishing. Trophy fish and bull moose adorn his cottage in Topsfield. He loved to travel out West and found a second home in Sedona, Ariz. Jeff was a member of the Skulkers of Sebois.

He is survived by his partner and beloved best friend, Kathy Norris; his father, Averill Black and his wife, Sandra, of Hampden; his mother, Shirley Black Collins and her husband, Jim, of Deltona, Fla.; one son, Erik Black and his wife, Nicole, of Veazie; one daughter, Katie Black of New York City; one brother, Scott A. Black and his wife, Carla, of Orange City, Fla.; one sister, Heather Ward and her family of Massachusetts; two stepbrothers, Paul A. Huston and his family of Bangor and Peter Huston and his family of Hampden; a niece, Jamie Black; a nephew, Tommy Black; and his lifelong friend, Bob McDonald of Eliot.

At his request, there will be no funeral service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
