CASWELL – Adelia E. Lavoie, 90, died peacefully Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. She was born July 31, 1921, in St. Andre, New Brunswick, the daughter of Adelard and Ida (Desjardins) Ouellette.
On Oct. 30, 1948, she married Alphonse J. Lavoie. Adelia lived a faithful Christian life, worshipping at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin, for most of her 55 years of married life. She was a dedicated spouse and loving mother. She loved flowers and gardening, harvesting the fruits of her labors for family and friends. Adelia was a skilled homemaker, cook and seamstress, always helpful to family and neighbors in their times of need. She excelled at being a gracious hostess, welcoming all who entered her simple, yet comfortable, home.
She is survived by a son, Roger Lavoie and his wife, Nancy, of Standish; three daughters, Marcelle Lavoie and her husband, Tom Kaminski, of Manchester, Conn., Lynne McCormack and her husband, Maxwell, of Unity and Lisa Lavoie of Woodland; one sister, Ida Page of Grand Falls, New Brunswick; a daughter-in-law, Jody Lavoie of Lincolnville; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Adelia was predeceased by her husband, Alphonse Lavoie, in 2004; three sons, Kenneth, Raymond and Maurice Lavoie; and one daughter, Sylvie Lavoie.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin. Committal service and interment will be afterward at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hamlin.
