Sawtelle powers Lumber Legion baseball team past Calais

MILLINOCKET — Dustin Sawtelle slammed a two-run home run and a solo shot to propel the Northern Lumber by the Calais Suns, 13-6 in American Legion baseball action Friday.

A.J. MacEachern chipped in with two triples and four RBIs for the winners and Jordan Morrow added two singles and a triple. Parker Walker and Kyler Peters each contributed three singles and two RBIs. Winning pitcher Jon Dumas scattered eight hits while striking out 11 and walking two.

Logan Johnson singled twice and drove in two runs for Calais and Adam Geel had a single and two RBIs.

Motor City 7, Brewer 6

At Brewer, Max Andrews recorded a double, single and RBI and Casey Estes chipped in with two RBI singles to help Motor City prevail.

Evan Pelkey and Gabe Melmed each added RBI doubles to back winning pitcher Cody Collins, who threw seven innings and gave up three hits and four earned runs.

Jordan Carter hit a two-run home run for Brewerand Nick Moore and Tony Bissell each had RBI singles.

Bangor 7, Penquis 5

At Bangor, Justin Courtney pitched the Comrades to their 10th win of the season as he struck out eight and gave up three runs and three hits in six innings.

Tyler LaPlante then came on to pitch two scoreless innings and Andrew Hillier pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the victory.

Sam Huston sparked Bangor with a two-out, two-run single in the third inning. Carl Farnham, Seth Freudenberger and Sam Stanhope each singled and Dylan Morris had a sacrifice fly.

Ryan Wilkes, Cody Caruso, and Ryan Rebar all had RBI singles for the 2-8 Navigators.

Hampden 17, Calais 3

At Calais on Thursday, Sean Smith recorded three singles and Justin Kasprzak notched two doubles to help Hampden win.

Chad Martin was the winning pitcher for the River Dogs.

Ryan Lincoln singled and doubled for Calais while Adam Geel and Logan Johnson had two singles apiece.
