Pelkey, Motor City hand Bangor Legion team its first loss of season

BANGOR — Evan Pelkey blasted a bases-loaded triple to highlight a four-run second inning and Motor City went on to post a 5-4 American Legion baseball victory over Bangor Thursday night at the Winkin Complex as the Comrades suffered their first loss of the season.

Both teams are now 9-1.

Casey Estes, Sean Curran and Shawn O’Donnell all singled for Motor City in the second and were then driven home by Pelkey. Cam Archer’s single plated Pelkey. O’Donnell and Curran each finished with two hits and O’Donnell was also the winning pitcher.

Tyler Laplante paced Bangor with two hits and a run.

At Brewer, Schyuler Van der Eb pitched a complete game, giving up seven hits and striking out two to give Brewer the win.

Kyle McLain had a double and a single with two RBIs for the 6-4 winners while Nick Moore added a double and single.

Logan McLaughlin took the loss for 2-8 Lincoln, scattering five hits and only allowing one earned run. Jordan Morrow had a double and a RBI single while AJ MacEachern recorded two singles.
