ROCKLAND – Barbara A. Colson passed peacefully July 1, 2012, at Maine Medical Center in the presence of family.

She was born April 11, 1936, in Warren, to William A. Putansu and Violet A. Yattaw.

She joins them in eternal rest along with her life partner, Don Crudell and their son, Howard "Cappy" A. Crudell; her sisters, Arlene Everett and Lillian Bolduc; and her brothers, Lawrence Maker and Wayne Putansu. She is survived by her former husband, Richard E. Young; and seven children, Leonard D. Young, Cindi L. Jeffreys, Daniel B. Young, Debra J. Pradarelli, Pamela J. Young, Randall M. Young and Timothy L. Benner. Also surviving her are sisters, Sylvia Palmer, Betty Riley and Shirley Langille; and brothers, Kendall Chandler and Raymond Chandler. She was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her greatest joys were family and friends, good food, and going to lawn sales. She was an avid reader and could have written her own book based on her life adventures.

There will be a celebration of life 3 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at the Fisherman’s Memorial at Rockland Harbor with a potluck reception afterward.
