Rockland couple remain in hospital after motorcycle crash

LEWISTON, Maine — A Rockland couple who were injured when their motorcycle struck the back of a pickup truck remain in a Lewiston hospital.

Richard Connell, 75, was listed Tuesday afternoon in critical condition, according to a spokeswoman at Central Maine Medical Center. His wife, Margaret Connell, 72, was in fair condition.

The two had been flown by LifeFlight helicopters to Lewiston after the crash that occurred on Route 1 in Warren early Saturday afternoon near North Pond Road. Richard Connell was driving the motorcycle when it crashed into the rear of a truck also going north on Route 1, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

The reason for the crash has not been determined.
