Maine teen leaves hospital after being shot in Mass. road rage incident

The Associated Press

MERRIMAC, Mass. — A 16-year-old Maine girl who was shot in the arm during an apparent road rage incident in Massachusetts has been released from the hospital.

State police say the girl was on Interstate 495 north in Merrimac just after noon Sunday when she was shot. She and her family were returning from Massachusetts to their home in Limington, Maine.

The girl was taken to a hospital in Newburyport with injuries to her upper arm. Her name was not made public.

A state police spokesman said Monday that the girl was released from the hospital and was recovering at home in Maine on Monday.

Police said the shot was fired from a car described as a white Honda Accord with tinted windows, possibly with Massachusetts registration plates.

According to the Boston Herald, state police described the driver as a white woman with sunglasses. The shot, they said, apparently was fired shortly after noon by a dark-skinned male passenger with short hair and wearing a gray T-shirt and sunglasses.
