MILBRIDGE, Maine — The man killed Saturday evening when a truck struck a tree on Wyman Road was the vehicle’s driver, according to an accident investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, which was reported at 7:01 p.m. June 30.
Jared Dorr, 21, of Milbridge died at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor from injuries from the crash.
Two other occupants of the 2004 GMC pickup also were injured: Jason Redimarker, 19, of Addison and Owen Fickett, 25, of Cherryfield.
The truck was traveling north on Wyman Road when Dorr failed to negotiate a curve in the road, according to the investigation. The truck slid off the roadway, struck a large hardwood tree, and rolled over, ejecting Dorr from the vehicle.
The truck came to rest on its passenger side, pinning Dorr under the vehicle, police believe. Witnesses to the crash and others at the scene helped pull Dorr free of the vehicle.
Police do not believe any of the truck’s occupants were wearing seat belts.
All three men were taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. Dorr was then transported by LifeFlight helicopter to EMMC, where he was pronounced dead in that facility’s emergency room.
Redimarker also was transported to EMMC, where he remains a patient. Fickett was treated and released from Maine Coast Memorial on Sunday, according to the statement.
