MILBRIDGE, Maine — A 21-year-old Milbridge man died Saturday night from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle crash on Wyman Road in that town.

According to a statement from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office prepared by Lt. Travis Willey, Jared Dorr died at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he had been transported after the crash.

Two other occupants of the 2004 GMC pickup also were injured: Jason Redimarker, 19, of Addison and Owen Fickett, 25, of Cherryfield.

Officers have not yet determined who was driving the vehicle, but alcohol use and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, which was reported at 7:01 p.m.

All three men were taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. Dorr was then transported by LifeFlight helicopter to EMMC, where he was pronounced dead in that facility’s emergency room.

Redimarker also was transported to EMMC, where he remains a patient. Fickett was treated and released from Maine Coast Memorial on Sunday, according to the statement.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Milbridge Police Department, but what is known is that the truck was traveling north on Wyman Road and the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The truck slid off the roadway, striking a large hardwood tree, according to Willey’s report.

The truck rolled over, and Dorr was ejected from the vehicle. The truck came to rest on its passenger side, with Dorr believed to have been pinned under the vehicle. Witnesses to the crash and others at the scene helped pull Dorr free of the vehicle.

Seat belts were not believed to have been used by any of the three occupants of the vehicle, according to the report.
