BANGOR, Maine — A Hampden man got violent on Saturday afternoon during a fight with a woman on Forest Avenue and pulled out a knife, which he used to stab a tire on the vehicle she was driving, Bangor Lt. Steve Hunt said Sunday.

Clifton Tower, 31, was fighting with a 24-year-old woman, who had a previous protection order against him that had expired, about 3 p.m. on Saturday when he pulled the knife, the lieutenant said.

“She tried to get into a van to leave and he grabbed her and [then] slashed the driver’s side front tire,” Hunt said.

When Officer Joe Baillargeon arrived at the woman’s Forest Avenue residence, Tower was waiting and was arrested without incident for domestic violence assault and domestic violence criminal mischief. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail.

Tower has a previous disorderly conduct conviction from 2001, according to court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News.
