Bangor man asked to leave Brewer pool

BREWER, Maine — Parents at the public pool Saturday afternoon became so concerned about an older man who appeared to be pursuing little boys that they called police.

“To people, he was acting suspicious,” Brewer police Sgt. Arden Jones said Sunday. They thought “he might be following young males.”

The 54-year-old Bangor man, who was not identified because he was not charged, had been at the pool for hours when police were called at around 3:15 p.m.

Cpl. Levi Sewall responded to the call from the Brewer Municipal Pool, which is located near Brewer Auditorium, and ran a background check on the man and found nothing criminal, Jones said.

“He was asked to leave, per request of the pool staff,” the sergeant said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
