AUGUSTA — Parade, 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, starting at the State House parking Lot, traveling down State Street, around the Rotary and down Water Street, across the bridge, ending at Old Fort Western. After the parade, hay wagon rides, trolley rides, a bounce house, children’s activities, food vendors will be at the Maine State Housing Authority parking lot on Water Street, ending with a performance at 6:30 p.m. by Emerald Sky. ASHLAND — Summerfest includes fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at the Ashland Fish and Game Club. 435-6363.

BANGOR-BREWER — Bangor-Brewer July Fourth parade will start at 11 a.m. Wednesday on Acme Street in Brewer, go down Wilson Street, across the Chamberlain Bridge into Bangor and then down Main Street to State and Exchange streets. Five area Kiwanis Club presidents will be parade grand marshals. Concert by Chords For Cure VIII on the Bangor Waterfront, 4 p.m., followed by fireworks display at dusk. Veterans will form up by era for the parade. Those who cannot walk the route may ride in Cyr buses.

BAR HARBOR — Independence Day Celebration, Wednesday, July 4, will include:

• 6 a.m., Blueberry Pancake Breakfast at the MDI Rotary Club, Bar Harbor Athletic Field, Park Street.

• 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Craft Fair and Marketplace at the MDI YMCA, 21 Park St.

• 10 a.m., Independence Day Parade.

• 11 a.m., Seafood Festival by MDI Rotary Club; after the parade, MDI YMCA annual Lobster Races, Bar Harbor Athletic Field, Park Street. 288-3511 or exec@mdiymca.org.

BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Old Fashioned Fourth of July Family Celebration on the Boothbay Common, Wednesday, July 4. Crafts, children’s games, chicken barbecue. Live music all day. Fireworks at dusk over the harbor on a barge near McFarland Island. 633-4825.

NEW HARBOR — Public reading of the Declaration of Independence, along with commentary by a living history interpreter, 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, at Colonial Pemaquid.

EASTON — Easton Field Days will include public fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7, Easton High School Athletic Field.

EASTPORT — Dozens of events including Grand Independence Parade, fireworks over the bay, free entertainment at Overlook Park, greasy pole, water sports, antique car show, contests and games for all ages with prizes, fireworks in the evening.

FREEPORT — L.L. Bean 10K Road Race, parade, free concerts and more Wednesday, July 4, at Discovery Park. The L.L. Bean 100th Anniversary Celebration continues through July 7 with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, July 7, ballfield at Pine Tree Academy. 865-1212.

GRAND LAKE STREAM — Annual Fourth of July celebration, 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 4. Activities will include children’s games in the park, a 3-mile race, frog races, tubing on the stream and a parade featuring antique and classic cars, trucks, tractors, bicycles, horses and bands. Ten prizes will be given out for best parade floats. Food tent with barbecue chicken dinner and strawberry shortcake. Evening festivities will conclude with a sparkler parade across the dam. LUBEC — Independence Day Celebration events include a Historical Society Lady’s Club Yard Sale, raffle table, Booster Club Rubber Ducky Sale, Boy Scout kayak raffle, children’s footraces, sawdust pile and children’s games. Community bonfire Friday, July 6, location depends on wind conditions. Memory Lantern Release at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the beach (depending on wind conditions). STONINGTON — The 27th annual Stonington Six race, Wednesday, July 4. The race will be dedicated to Nat Barrows, founding president of the Island Community Center. Participants can sign up for the Powell 10K (6.2 miles), Fun Run (1.4 miles) and a Walker Class. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Island Community Center. Race fee is $15. Walkers begin at 7:30 a.m. 10K and Fun Run Racers begin at 8 a.m. Racers who finish the course will receive a Stonington Six T-shirt.
