Boyce, Duff lift Bangor past Hampden

ORONO — Hunter Boyce hit a 2-2 fastball up the middle to score Bryan Rouleau in the bottom of the sixth inning, lifting Bangor to a 2-1 Zone 1 American Legion baseball victory over Hampden at Mahaney Diamond Thursday.

Rouleau doubled to set up the winning run.

Greg Duff earned the win on the mound for the 6-0 Comrades, outdueling Dillon Corliss by scattering five singles and an unearned run through six innings. Curtis Worcester worked a scoreless seventh for the save.

Carl Farnham singled twice and Tyler LaPlante singled and eventually scored on a balk in the fifth to make it a 1-1 game.

Corliss spaced seven hits and gave up only one earned run to pace 3-3 Hampden.

Motor City 7, Calais 0

At Husson University’s Winkin Complex in Bangor, Cody Collins allowed only two hits while shutting out Calais in the complete-game performance for Motor City.

Collins threw 71 pitches in the efficient effort. Casey Estes chipped in with three hits and scored two runs.

Brewer 8, Penquis 7

At Husson University, Nick Moore scored the winning run on a bases-loaded walk of Chase Allen in the bottom of the eighth as Brewer improved to 3-3.

Brewer scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. RBI singles by Tyler French and Matt Morrow sparked the rally. Josh Gale had two singles and a RBI for Brewer while Jeremy Bissell added a double, single and an RBI. Jordan Carter notched an RBI triple.

Dennis O’Neil picked up the win in relief after giving up one unearned run in five innings of two-hit baseball. He had six strikeouts and a walk.

Top hitters for 2-4 Penquis included David Lord with a double and two singles with two RBIs, Cody Caruso with three singles and Matt Crave with a double, single and three runs.

Motor City 9, Lumber 8

At Bangor on Wednesday, Casey Estes scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to give Motor City the win after the Northern Lumber had scored four runs in the top half of the inning.

Cam Archer paced Motor City with three hits and three RBIs.

Logan had two hits and scored two runs for the Lumber.
