Bucksport eliminates Ellsworth in 9-10 baseball tourney

BUCKSPORT — Bucksport scored five runs in the second inning to jump out on Ellsworth and stayed alive with a 9-5 victory Wednesday night in Little League baseball ages 9-10 District 1 all-stars action.

Leading Bucksport were Brady Findlay with an RBI double and David Gross, James Terrill and Cameron Grindle with RBI singles.

Parker Littlefield and Jackson Curtis powered Ellsworth as Littlefield posted two triples and four RBIs, followed by Curtis with a single, double and run scored.

Bucksport plays the winner of Coastal-Calais on Saturday. Ellsworth was eliminated.

Machias 19, Acadian 18

At Bar Harbor, Machias took advantage of its opportunities and held off an Acadian rally to preserve the win.

Acadian scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut Machias’ lead to one, but Kyle Anderson induced a two-out, bases-loaded groundout to end the game.

Lucas McDonald singled in the first for 2-0 Machias’ lone hit, but still scored 10 runs in the first two innings en route to the victory.

Sam Mitchell smacked two doubles and collected three RBIs to pace 2-1 Acadian, Colyn Rich added an RBI triple and Nick Corson had two RBI singles.
