BROWNVILLE, Maine — Between 30 and 40 orange traffic cones were taken from Stickney Hill Road sometime late Tuesday or early Wednesday, according to Town Manager Matthew Pineo.

The Maine Department of Transportation reported the theft to police on Wednesday. Each cone costs around $36, according to the town.

Brownville was slammed by heavy rainfall and flooding over the weekend, and crews have been working to reopen several roads in and around town, including Stickney Hill Road, that were washed out or badly damaged by flash floods.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brownville town office at 965-2561 or the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department at 564-3304.
