TOPSHAM, Maine — The Maine Breast Health Cooperative will honor one volunteer, advocate, professional or group effort that has contributed to breast health or the fight against breast cancer on the community, state, and-or national level. Nominees may be advocates, educators, leaders, role models, promoters of breast health or promoters of women’s issues. Professionals should be nominated for efforts that go above and beyond the scope of their jobs. Groups may be businesses, clubs, families or others who work together to make a difference.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Breast Health Leadership Awards. The winners will be honored at the 15th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month Silver Tea on Thursday, Sept. 27. The event will be hosted by first lady of Maine Ann LePage at the Blaine House.

The Breast Health Leadership Award is presented annually to acknowledge a Maine individual, group or organization that has made an exceptional contribution by promoting breast health, improving awareness and an understanding of breast cancer or working toward elimination of the disease. Nominees must be Maine residents. To make a nomination, visit cancer.org/blainehousetea to download a nomination form. Nominations must be postmarked by Friday, July 27, and mailed to Sally Bilancia, Maine Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, P.O. Box 1626, Bangor 04402-1626.
