Acadians beat Ellsworth for second tourney victory


BAR HARBOR — Lincoln Johnson recorded two hits and drove in two runs to help the Acadians defeat Ellsworth 10-2 in a District 1 Little League All-Star baseball game in the ages 9-10 tourney Monday.

The Acadians improved to 2-0.

Brett Duley and Nick Duley each chipped in with an RBI single and Kyle Nicolson recorded his second pitching win in the tourney. Nicholson struck out six in four innings.

Tanner Ashely contributed with an RBI double for 0-1 Ellsworth and Seth Boyer added an RBI single.

On Wednesday, Ellsworth moves on to play at Bucksport and Acadia hosts Machias. Coastal will also visit Calais Wednesday.

At Machias, Ryan Berasi struck out five in four innings to help Machias beat Calais.

Lukas McDonald, Jeff Graham, Jordan Lobley and Cecil Gray each contributed with a single for Machias.

John Socobasin hit a home run and single for Calais. Sebastian Moore chipped in with two hits and Mitchell Gower had one.

All-star baseball and softball games should be reported to the BDN via email to:

Coaches are required to list information for both teams, with first and last names of players. Info should include key highlights and stats for leading hitters and pitchers.

Linescores may also be included.

The game result should be emailed as soon as possible on the day it is played.

The host team is responsible for reporting games.
