Hermon advances to championship round in 9-10 tourney


GLENBURN — Breanne Oakes and Megan Chamberlain combined on a four-inning no-hitter to lift Hermon by Hampden 13-2 during a Little League All-Star softball game in the District 3 ages 9-10 tourney Sunday.

Oakes struck out eight and Chamberlain had one to help put Hermon in Tuesday’s championship round.

In Sunday’s second game, Bangor eliminated Lincoln 18-15 in the double-elimination tourney.

Megan Chamberlain doubled and singled to pace 2-0 Hermon and Allison Treat doubled. Paige Plissey, Miah Goodale and Grace Page each added a single for 1-1 Hermon.

In the second game, Emma Guernsey racked up two doubles to spark Bangor. Makenzie Lambert, Makenzie Thompson, Madisyn Neundorfer and Sabrina Stern each added two singles for the 1-1 winners.

Tenley Hartford notched three singles for 0-2 LIncoln and Leine McKechnie added two.

The tourney continues Monday when Bangor battles Hampden in an elimination game at 6 p.m. The winner advances to the championship round against Hermon at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and if Hermon loses, then the if-necessary game would follow on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Hermon, Hampden win

At Glenburn, Hermon and Hampden recorded opening victories in the tourney as Hermon beat Bangor 19-2 and Hampden defeated Lincoln 16-4.

In the first game, Olivia Nash pitched two innings and struck out five and Olivia Albert followed with two innings and four strikeouts to help Hermon prevail.

Breanna Oakes paced Hermon with a three-run home run and two triples, finishing with five RBIs. Megan Chamberlain chipped in with a double, three singles and two RBIs.

Tessa Solomon had a single and RBI for Bangor.

In the second game, Natalie Sicard struck out nine to notch the win for Hampden.

Sadie Ross notched three singles and three RBIs to spark Hampden. Abby Varney added an RBI triple and Emily Murphy had an RBI double.

Katey Libby, Tenley Hartford and Jaelynn Whitney each singled for Lincoln, with Libby driving in a run.

Coaches are required to list information for both teams, with first and last names of players. Info should include key highlights and stats for leading hitters and pitchers.

Linescores may also be included.

The game result should be emailed as soon as possible on the day it is played.
