Report of man with no pants leads to arrest at Bangor supermarket

BANGOR, Maine — Someone called police at around 8:15 p.m. Thursday to say a man at Shaw’s supermarket “was sitting on the steps with only a shirt on,” Bangor police Sgt. Ed Potter said Friday.

When Officer Jason Linkletter arrived, he found Roland Devoe, 48, of Brewer intoxicated in a bathroom stall inside the Main Street grocery store, the sergeant said.

Officer David Farrar had given Devoe a written trespass warning on June 3 barring him from Shaw’s, so he was arrested by Linkletter for criminal trespassing.

Potter said it couldn’t be proved that Devoe had been pantless outside the store.

Devoe was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and remained there Friday morning, Potter said.

Devoe has three convictions for disorderly conduct in the last year, all which sent him to jail for between two to five days each, and two counts of violating conditions of his release, according to court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
