Worcester, Corneil, Morris lift Bangor by Motor City

BANGOR — Curtis Worcester turned in a strong pitching performance to lead the Bangor Comrades to a 13-4 American Legion baseball victory over Motor City Thursday.

Worcester struck out eight and gave up three hits and one earned run in seventh innings. Jordan Treadwell and Brendan Moore pitched the eighth and ninth innings to close out the game.

Christian Corneil paced 4-0 Bangor with an RBI single and RBI triple. Dylan Morris contributed with a two-run home run and single. Hunter Boyce and Bryan Rouleau each chipped in with two singles and Seth Freudenberger had a two-run single.

Casey Estes notched a double and single for Motor City and Tyler Eddy had an RBI single.

At Dover Foxcroft, Cody Caruso pitched a strong game and aided his own cause with a triple and single to help Penquis beat Calais.

Caruso scattered 12 hits over seven innings and struck out nine.

David Lord chipped in with a single, double and two RBIs for the winners while Brandon Spratt and Caleb Richard each added two hits.

Calais threatened in top of seventh, but Caruso got one of his nine strikeouts to end the game.

Tyler Morrison had three hits for Calais.

At Millinocket, Dustin Sawtelle cranked a grand slam to propel the Lumber past Brewer.

Jordan Morrow chipped in with three singles and an RBI. Logan McLaughlin added three singles and two RBIs.

Jordan Carter recorded two doubles, a single and an RBI for Brewer while Carter Deredin added two singles, a double and RBI.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Shawn Smith drove in three runs with two singles and two doubles to help Hampden beat Penquis.

Hampden rallied for four runs in the top of the ninth after Penquis had taken a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth.

Casey Jordan had two hits and two RBIs for Penquis.
