LINCOLN – Lincoln News Editor and Publisher Kevin P. Tenggren, 46, died unexpectedly of an undisclosed medical condition, Sunday, June 17, 2012. Kevin was born April 17, 1966, in Boston.

He graduated from Cheverus High School in Portland, and attended the University of Maine in Orono for journalism. Kevin assumed the helm at the Lincoln News after the demise of his mother, Sheila in 2005, expanding the news to the Katahdin Region. He thought of the staff at the news as his extended family. Kevin’s passion for the news knew no bounds. Kevin was an avid boater, having spent summers out on Penobscot Bay tooling around in his Sea Ray cruiser. During the long winter months, he enjoyed ice fishing and snow sledding. Then, in the early spring he always looked forward to his annual Caribbean vacation. Kevin was known for his quick wit and outstanding sense of humor. Because of his selfless attitude, he was always available for family and friends.

Kevin is survived by his daughter, Colby; and his brothers, Matthew and Randall.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 22, at Lincoln Cemetery on Park Street. In lieu of cards and flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the Penobscot Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 73, Lincoln, ME 04457. Condolences may be expressed online at
