HARBORSIDE – Frank S. Bell Sr., who was born June 18, 1938, went to be with our Lord Thursday, June 14, 2012, just four days shy of his 74th birthday, after a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Frank had a love for the ocean, his home in Brooksville, lobstering and his many boats. After retirement in 2000 Frank and Nancy traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and also took cruises through the Caribbean. In 1994, they captained their boat, Nancy B III, to Nantucket, where Frank was previously stationed as a Navy Seabee. He served in the Seabees from 1956 to 1962. He was also a 100th Anniversary candidate for the Freemasons of Ashlar Lodge No. 105, Auburn. He received his 50-year pin in summer 2011. Frank was self-employed owner of Bell Construction Inc., constructing commercially and residentially. Although he was serious in business, his soft side shown through with his love of family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Thompson Bell; children, Cheryl Bell-Pollock and Phil Pollock, John Bell, Claire Bell, Sandra and Dennis Rose, Shannon and Dave Cadman and Tim Bell; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Bell, Rebecca Wade, Josh Cissell, Amber Marin, Richard Bell, Hillary Lacombe, Mercedes Bell, Luc Bell, Darby Rose and Renee Bell; and one great-grandson, Jaiden Wade. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Beatrice Bell; his eldest son, Frank “Butchie” Bell Jr.; and in-laws, Clifton and Anne Thompson. Special thanks go out to Hancock County Homecare and Hospice, ReAnne, Angie, Linda, as well as Tom Cooper, our night time care giver. Thank you to all the good friends and neighbors who stopped by on a daily basis to check up on Frank and Nancy. You all made life so much easier throughout this difficult time.
