FAIRFIELD, Maine — A Winslow man was killed Monday afternoon after the car he was driving left Route 201 near the I-95 interchange, according to police.
Scott Grenier, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene, Fairfield police Chief John Emery said Monday.
Grenier’s blue Chevy was heading northbound on Route 201 at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, traveled on the opposite side of a guardrail in the southbound lane, went into the woods and struck a signpost and large tree, Emery said.
The pavement didn’t have any notable skid marks.
A team from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office will perform a reconstruction on the crash, which remains under investigation, according to Emery.
