CHINA, Maine — Authorities recovered the body of a local man Tuesday after he was reported missing Monday.
The Maine Warden Service recovered the body of Tye Feihel, 43, from 27 feet of water in China Lake at noon Tuesday, Cpl.John MacDonald said in a released statement. The man was reported missing Monday after going for a swim at 3 p.m., the corporal said.
MacDonald said that while Feihel was performing a familiar swim, this was his first outing of the year.
Feihel typically began his swim at his residence on Lakeview Drive and followed the shoreline to the landing at Lakeside Country Store in town, where his mother would pick him up, according to MacDonald.
Feihel had autism and schizophrenia but was not on medication, the corporal said.
Game wardens, the Maine Warden Service Dive Team, Warden Service aircrafts and watercrafts, along with China Fire and Rescue and the China Police Department teamed up for the search, MacDonald said.
The case remains under investigation.
