DEDHAM, Maine — Broadcasters on I-95, WWMJ-FM, 95.7 FM, will host an on-air CaPella-thon 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22, to raise donations from listeners to help send children with disabilities to Camp CaPella this summer. Announcers on the CaPella-thon also will also preview the I-95 Classic Drive, “Miles for Smiles,” a ride of classic cars and motorcycles taking place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, and driving from Cumulus Radio in Brewer on Route 1 past Camp CaPella to Napa Auto Parts in Ellsworth, 92 Downeast Highway, where some will win prizes and all, including visitors, will enjoy free food and music from RetroRockerz.
Donations may be made on the I-95 website, wwmj-fm.com by clicking on the donation box that will lead the contributor to the Camp CaPella website for donations by credit card, or by calling 989-5631 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Any listeners and anyone in our communities can buy a mile for a buck, donate as many miles as you can, count the ‘Miles for Smiles’ and help send a kid with disabilities to camp this summer,” said Fred Miller, operations manager at Cumulus Media Bangor in Brewer. “We’re pitching ‘Miles for Smiles’ to help put smiles on the faces of children who might otherwise not have the opportunity to go to summer camp that is all their own. Camp CaPella is good for all of us, and all can help by making a donation on behalf of the I-95 Classic Drive.”
“Our thanks to Cumulus Radio for launching an event we hope will happen every year, to Napa Auto Parts for hosting the party after the ride and to the contributors who may hear the CaPella-thon story and choose to donate through ‘Miles for Smiles’ to send a child with physical or developmental disabilities to camp this summer,” said Dana Mosher, executive director of Camp CaPella. “This will be fun for everybody involved, and contributions will be a big helping hand for us this year.”
