KENNEBUNK, Maine — A South Portland man who allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend at her Kennebunk residence Thursday was arrested Sunday morning after warrants for his arrest were issued, police said.

Brian Beaulieu, 41, is facing a charge of domestic violence assault in the wake of an incident that took place just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Kennebunk police Lt. Anthony Bean-Burpee said.

Beaulieu had gone to visit the woman Thursday, Bean-Burpee said, and when an argument grew heated, Beaulieu pulled the woman’s hair and tore at the clothes she was wearing.

Beaulieu wasn’t arrested that night, the lieutenant said, but a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, South Portland police became aware of the warrant and went to Beaulieu’s residence to check on him. When he went to the station to “find out why,” according to Lt. Frank Clark, he was arrested on the domestic violence assault charge out of Kennebunk.

Beaulieu was taken to the Cumberland County Jail and later released on bail. Bean-Burpee said further charges could be pending once the district attorney’s office reviews the case. printed on April 25, 2017
