At age 17, after graduating from John Bapst High School, Bangor, Ray enlisted in the Navy serving honorably with the Seabees in Okinawa, Japan. Ray retired after 30 years with Goulds in 1995. Eleanor and Ray were married June 6, 1949. The love and devotion they shared for the past 63 years has truly been an inspiration to everyone who knew them. Ray loved the Spartans, boating, horseshoes, gardening, NASCAR and getting back to Maine whenever he could. He loved spending time visiting his children and cheering his grandsons on in their many sporting events. Ray had many friends from Maine to California. Once you met Ray, you remained his friend for life. To all, he was wise, compassionate and kind, and never spoke badly about anybody. Ray was an active member of Resurrection Parish for 47 years, as well as a member of Kiwanis and a volunteer with the Salvation Army. To all the doctors, nurses and staff at Mid-Michigan Physicians, the family wishes to extend a sincere thank you for all the kindness you extended to Ray and to Sparrow Hospice Healthcare for their excellent and loving care.
