Wednesday’s baseball, softball regional finals postponed to Thursday

Due to Wednesday’s cold and wet conditions and in consideration of the safety of the athletes, the Maine Principals’ Association has postponed the regional high school baseball and softball championships to Thursday.

Thursday’s Eastern Maine softball schedule for Coffin Field in Brewer will be Old Town vs. Nokomis at 3 p.m. in the Class B final, followed by Deer Isle-Stonington vs. Penobscot Valley of Howland in the Class D final at 7 p.m.

In EM baseball at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Bangor Christian will play Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook at 3 p.m. in the Class D final, followed by Foxcroft Academy vs. Waterville in the Class B final at 7 p.m.

The Western Maine finals are scheduled at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.

In the baseball finals, Buckfield will play Valley at 3 p.m. for the Class D title, followed by Cape Elizabeth vs. Falmouth at 7 p.m. in the Class B final.

In softball, Fryeburg Academy will play Greely of Cumberland Center at 3:30 p.m. in the Class B final while Richmond will take on Rangeley at 7:30 p.m. in the Class D final.

Thursday’s winners advance to Saturday’s state finals.
