The 39th annual Old Port Festival kicked off with the traditional foot-powered parade down Exchange Street Sunday, led by the Shoestring Theatre’s cast of drummers, stilt walkers and giant puppets. The sun shone on multiple music stages, souvenir hawkers and food vendors ranging from tandoori to cotton candy. Festival organizers at Portland’s Downtown District expected up to 30,000 to converge on the Old Port for this year’s shindig.
