BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man was arrested Sunday morning after assaulting a 24-year-old woman and pulling a butcher knife out of his pants while being questioned by authorities, police said.
A witness saw Christopher A. Smith, 27, shoving a woman in downtown Bangor and reported the incident at 10:38 a.m., Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday.
After Officer James Dearing arrived on the scene and began questioning the couple, Smith revealed he had an 11-inch butcher knife with a 6-inch blade that was concealed in his pants, Edwards said.
Smith was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault and carrying a concealed weapon. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and remained there on Tuesday, Edwards said.
