Old Town High School announces honor parts

OLD TOWN, Maine — Old Town High School has announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2012. Graduation will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 8, in the MacKenzie Gymnasium. Class Night will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, in the gym.

Evan Lane, son of Mary-Ellen Lane and Robert Lane, has been named valedictorian of the class of 2012. He plans to attend the University of Maine in the fall. He has been a Student Council member all four years, serving as class vice president his sophomore, junior and senior years. He is a member of the National Honor Society and participated in Junior Prize Exhibition. He has been a member the Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble and Wind Ensemble. Evan was named Student of the Month in his freshman and junior years and participated in Spring Track in his freshman and sophomore years.

Gabriel Melmed, son of Jeffrey and Janice Melmed, has been named salutatorian of the class of 2012. He plans to attend the University of Maine College of Engineering in the fall. He has been a member of the soccer, basketball and baseball teams all four years and served as captain of each during his senior year. He also is a member of the Math Team and helped establish the OTHS Writing Center.
