PORTLAND, Maine — Tickets for the Mumford and Sons show in August were expected to go fast when they went on sale Friday morning.

They certainly did, as the show featuring the British rock group set for August 4 on the Eastern Promenade sold out in less than an hour.

A call to Frontgate Tickets on Friday afternoon confirmed that the show is indeed sold out.

The show will be the band’s first in Maine and will be part of a daylong festival. The other cities hosting the band’s summer tour are Bristol, Va. and Tenn., Dixon, Ill., and Monterey, Calif.

St. Vincent, Dawes, The Maccabees, Apache Relay, Simone Felice and Haim also are slated to perform at the daylong festival.

All tickets are general admission tickets, and the show will have no fixed seating and no chairs will be allowed on site. Music will start at 2 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on.

Mumford and Sons was formed in 2007, and the group’s debut album, “Sigh No More,” which was released in 2010, reached the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart.
