LINCOLN and AUBURN – Lillian J. Boone, 95, wife of Ronald Boone Sr., passed away May 24, 2012, at an Auburn health care facility. She was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Lincoln, daughter of Hartwell and Florence (Neal) Phinney.
Lillian was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked many years at the Marjorie Shop, Main Street, Lincoln. She and Ronald owned an operating dairy farm and then an apple orchard for a period of time that spanned eight decades. She was an active and faithful member of Lincoln United Methodist Church, where she was instrumental in the acquisition of the present parsonage, active in the steeple restoration and helped with the chimes project of the church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Ronald Boone Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Auburn; five grandchildren, Bonnie Moore of Lewiston, Jennifer Noreault of Lakeville, Minn., Kelly Dymond and Kristen Trundy, both of Turner, and Michael Boone of Greene; 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Bonita Greenberg; three sisters, Viola Hall, Marion Wilson and Merle Phinney-Larlee; a brother, Hartwell Phinney, as well as an infant brother.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A graveside service will be held shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Richardson officiating. Those who wish may sign an online register and leave written condolences at
