VAN BUREN – Della (Cyr) Cormier, 73, of Ocala, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Legacy House Hospice. She was born Feb. 7, 1939, in Cyr Plantation, Van Buren, daughter of the late Rene and Wilena Cyr.

In Van Buren, Della was a busy mother working as administrative assistant for many professional organizations until 1986 when she relocated to Ocala, Fla. She worked 13 years in communications for Marion County Sheriff Department until retiring in 2001. Della was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed gardening, particularly her roses, and was an avid decorator, always designing and creating new projects for the home.

Della is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Richard J. Cormier; four daughters, Cheryl Batter and husband, Jeffrey, of Meriden, Conn., Lisa Cormier-Smith and husband, Thomas, of Casco, Beth Cormier and partner, Joanne Stinson, of Raymond, and Tanya Lapierre of St. David; grandchildren, Tyler Lapierre and wife, Kylie, and Connor Lapierre of Van Buren; stepgranddaughter, Sara; great-granddaughter, Emily; and great-stepgranddaughter, Autumn. She is also survived by many siblings, Marilyn Legg, Joyce Dellabianca, Sylvia Cyr and Gerry, Nathan Cyr and Karen, Martin Cyr, Kenneth Cyr, Diana Cyr, MaryEllen Welch and Allen, Rena Levesque, and Karen Wright and Gavin; many nieces and nephews. Della was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Roderick.

A funeral Mass will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
