BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Troop Greeters group is celebrating its ninth anniversary of welcoming troops home from overseas with an open house at the Bangor International Airport.

The group of volunteers has welcomed each and every troop-carrying flight at the airport since 2003. That’s nearly 6,500 flights carrying 1.5 million troops.

The public is invited to join the troop greeters from 1-4 p.m. Saturday in the airport’s troop greeter room.

Congressman Mike Michaud and first lady Ann LePage are among those slated to speak.
