BREWER, Maine — Officer Liz Kelley was doing a routine check of Indian Trail Park on Tuesday evening when she found a car with three teens inside that smelled strongly of burned marijuana, Brewer police Sgt. Arden Jones said Wednesday.

The group “admitted to using marijuana” and a pot pipe was located, the sergeant said.

Maggie Hopkins, 18, of Orland was charged with unlawful furnishing of marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, Jones said.

“The person who had [the pot] was charged with furnishing it to the other people in the vehicle,” the sergeant said.

The two other people in the vehicle were not charged. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
